What are Homemaker and Companion Services?

Homemaker and Companion Services provide practical, day-to-day support that helps a person live comfortably and safely at home. Services include companion care, homemaker support, and meal preparation. They do not include hands-on personal care, nursing, wound care, medication administration, or other clinical procedures.

Do you accept APD Medicaid waiver clients?

Yes. GSA Home Care is an approved provider for Florida's Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) and serves Medicaid waiver clients with companion, homemaker, and life skills support.

How quickly can care start?

After a quick call and a free in-home assessment, we match a caregiver and confirm the schedule. If care is urgent, we prioritize the earliest available start — typically within 48 to 72 hours.

How does payment work?

Many clients choose private pay. We also work with Florida Medicaid waiver programs and some long-term care insurance plans. Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for VA Aid and Attendance benefits to cover care. We help families confirm eligibility.

Are your caregivers background-checked and insured?

Yes. All GSA Home Care caregivers complete a thorough background check and required state training before placement. The agency is fully licensed and insured.

What's the difference between a home care agency and a home health agency?

A Homemaker and Companion Services provider like GSA offers companionship and homemaker support, such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, and errands. A home health agency provides skilled medical services like nursing and therapy under physician orders. We do not provide hands-on personal care or medical services.
